Nyanyad Beach – Secret Beach In Nusa Penida, Bali

Nusa Penida island has no shortage of incredible beaches hidden in its cliffs, but Nyanyad Beach is truly a secret and it wasn’t accessible by car until this year.

This beach is in a remote corner of the island (near Suwehan), but it’s not too hard to reach and the hike itself is pretty short. It’s a fantastic white sand beach with huge limestone hills on all sides, and you’re likely to have it all to yourself.

This travel guide will explain how to get there, and everything you need to know before you go!

Where To Stay

Nyanyad Beach – What To Expect

The hike down to the beach is pretty straightforward and only takes about 15 minutes or less.

Along the way, you’ll pass through a jungle with monkeys, lizards, and crumbling limestone karsts. This beach is surrounded by giant hills on all sides, so there’s only one way in and out.

The narrow path has concrete stairs all the way, but there are a few steep spots without railings, so take your time. Compared to the nearby Suwehan Beach, this hike is shorter and easier.

At the bottom, the trail opens up into a wide beach with perfect white sand and plenty of shade trees. There’s even a small Hindu temple called Pura Kayan.

How To Get There

Nyanyad Beach is on the south corner of Nusa Penida island. It’s accessible by car or scooter, about 1 hour drive from the main docks and accommodation in northern Penida.

Google Maps will try to take you on a road to the Tanjung Sedihing lighthouse, but the road you need is actually a bit further west. It’s a new one (not on the map yet) and the correct GPS coordinates for the parking lot are -8.815316, 115.588986.

It is car and scooter accessible, but be careful if you go by scooter because the road is a bit rough and may be dangerous in some spots if you don’t take it slow.

If you get lost in the village nearby, you can ask the locals for ‘Pantai Nyanyad’ and they’ll be happy to point you in the right direction.

Nusa Penida Private Driver

If you want to explore Nusa Penida in the comfort and safety of a van with a driver, my top recommendation would be Klook.

Their price is 540k IDR ($35 USD) for a full day of driving and sightseeing in Penida (up to 10 hours) for 1-5 passengers. That’s the total price for the whole van + driver + petrol! It’s a steal.

We’ve used Klook for lots of tours and activities around the world, and they’re great! Highly recommended.
