Where to stay in Las Vegas
Most people chose to stay at a hotel in the heart of the action along the Las Vegas Strip. You can also find great deals at hotels off the strip and take advantage of free parking at some of the casinos on the strip. We always recommend to book a hotel with free cancellation in case you need to change your plans at the last minute.
Las Vegas 2 day itinerary:
Day 1 : Walk along the Strip and enjoy a show
Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas
Starting at the southern tip of the strip is the well photographed Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. Designed by Betty Willis, this quick photo opportunity is not to be missed, especially around sunrise or sunset. The Strip is 6.8km long and it is full of shops, restaurants and magnificent casinos and hotels that will catch your eyes at every step.
Places to stop along the Strip:
Luxor Hotel & Casino: When in Las Vegas you must make a quick stop outside the Luxor Hotel and Casino and snap some photos with the iconic pyramid shaped hotel and its Egyptian inspired statues.
Excalibur Hotel & Casino: Who has dreamt about staying in a castle? We all have! The Excalibur Hotel will make you feel like a prince or princess and from there you can get fantastic views of the New York New York Hotel.
New York – New York Hotel & Casino: The New York New York is home of the only roller coaster on the Strip, with some adrenaline pumping views of the Las Vegas skyline. The roller coaster is quite expensive but from what I have heard it is worth the price.
Coca Cola and M&M’s Store: You must visit the M&M’s and the Coca Cola retail outlets. Both attractions are amazing and in the Coca-Cola store you can get your picture taken with the 7-foot tall Coca-Cola polar bear. Here you can taste some of the flavors of different Coca-Cola sodas from around the world.
Bellagio Hotel & Casino: Nothing is more breathtaking than the famous Bellagio fountains. Without a doubt, witnessing this water show is one of the best things to do in Las Vegas. Make sure to arrive about 10 minutes before each show, so you can grab a good viewing spot as it fills up quickly once the music has begun.
Paris Las Vegas: If you want to feel like you have been transported to Paris, then look no further than the viewing deck 50 stories up the half-size Eiffel Tower at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
Caesars Palace: If you are looking for some more high-end shopping, then you must make a stop at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
The Linq Hotel & Casino (High Roller): You cannot leave Las Vegas without going on the High Roller Ferris wheel. The view of the Las Vegas Strip from above is epic and you can enjoy a delicious drink in one of the 28 spacious cabins. We recommend going during its half an hour cocktail experience. It includes an open bar for the 30-minute rotation of the wheel.
The Venetian: The Venetian is our favorite hotel on the Strip because of its mini-canals, both indoors and outside, and the fact that you can take a gondola ride, without having to travel all the way to Italy. It is so romantic, and for a second you feel like you are in Italy.
Other hotels you must include on your list of stops along the strip:
- Wynn/Encore Resort & Casino
- Circus Circus Hotel & Casino
- The Mirage
- MGM Grand Las Vegas
- Treasure Island
Las Vegas offers a wide range of shows from Cirque du Soleil to musical performances like Celine Dion and everything in between. If you are in Las Vegas you must witness at least one show to get a complete Vegas Experience. Do not worry, they have so many shows, you will find the perfect one for you.
Day 2: Exploring beyond the Strip
The Fremont Street Experience
Unfortunately, too many people think that the Strip is all Las Vegas has to offer, but they are wrong! You must head over to the Fremont Street to get a complete Vegas Experience.
The Fremont Street Experience is where Las Vegas started. It is home to the famous Golden Gate and The Golden Nugget casino and it is a must-do activity on your Las Vegas itinerary. You can visit the Fremont Street Experience at night or during the day and get totally different experiences. If you are adventurous you will love to do the zip line that flies high above the street.
The Mob Museum
Since its infancy, the city of Las Vegas and its love for gambling, alcohol and showgirls has piqued the interest of the mob. Through its history, the mafia has influenced, invested in, and owned several casinos. There is no better place to learn about this history than at The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.
The Mob Museum is open daily from 9AM to 9PM. Tickets are $20.95 for adults and available for purchase online.
The Neon Museum
Take a tour through the history of Las Vegas with its iconic glitz and glamour. The Neon Museum is the boneyard for the city’s retired, upgraded, or defunct neon signs. You have the option to take a tour during the day or witness 11 restored signs lit up during the night tour. Either way, book your tickets in advance online for optimal tour times.
7 Magic Mountains
If you have been on Instagram in the few last year you have probably seen a photo of Seven Magic Mountains. This colorful art installation is located 10 miles south of the city, a short distance from Jean Dry Lake. There is never a bad time in the day to visit, just remember the spot can get bus during any time of day.
